Fade Away

Or, The Artist

Twenty-five year-old Jimmy Miller is pretty sure he’s either losing his mind or achieving enlightenment. Then again, maybe he’s just lonely and bored. For months he’s been experiencing increasingly intense episodes of “fading” where he seems to forget not just who, but also what he is. Doctors, religious advisors, and well-intentioned friends only make him feel worse about himself and his decisions. And sex, an activity at which he’s never really excelled, inevitably leads to guilt and disappointment. With a vague sense that he’s on the verge of something, Jimmy stumbles along, uncertain whether it’s death, transcendence, or love that he’s struggling toward.
